The French Leclerc main battle tank is a highly advanced armored vehicle developed by GIAT Industries (now Nexter) and named after General Philippe Leclerc, a hero of World War II. Entering service in 1992, the Leclerc was designed to replace the aging AMX-30 and meet the needs of modern armored warfare with a focus on mobility, protection, and cutting-edge technology.

Weighing around 57 tons, the Leclerc is powered by a French-built V8X-1500 Hyperbar diesel engine paired with an automatic transmission, allowing it to reach speeds up to 45 mph (72 km/h). One of its most important features is its autoloader system, which reduces the crew requirement to three and enables a rapid firing rate of 12 rounds per minute. The tank's 120mm smoothbore gun is compatible with NATO-standard ammunition and is complemented by advanced fire control and thermal imaging systems, providing accurate target engagement when on the move.

The Leclerc is protected by modular composite armor and can be upgraded with additional reactive armor or electronic countermeasures.
